IBL Weather Projects

In November we started choosing and researching our IBL projects. We used both books and the internet to research our topic. We had to choose an extreme weather condition. You could choose floods, hurricanes, thunderstorms, tsunamis, droughts, tornadoes, lightning and others.

Ryan chose to do tsunamis and Brody chose to do hurricanes. You could also choose how you wanted to present it. The options we could use were Smore, Prezi, Powerpoint, Comic Life, or Symwriter. Lots of people chose to do Prezi. For our research booklets we had to find information for an Introduction, Devastation, Safety Plan, Sustainability, Fascinating Facts and Wonders.

We presented our projects in the computer lab in the beginning of January. It was neat because we set up our project and then left it for others to come and look at. Then we got to go around and look at everyone else’s projects. We had to leave a compliment about their project before we left to watch another one. We also had to take jot notes about each project we viewed.

Brody researched Hurricanes and he did a Prezi. Ryan studied Tsunamis for the IBL project and presented it on Comic Life.
This was a fun project and we learned a lot! Thanks Mrs. Dent Scarcello for all you help.

This week at school we had so many things I don’t know where to start so I will start at gym. In gym we did gymnastics. We did flips and rolls and we did teddy bear stands it was fun doing all the different moves. When we did the teddy bear stand I think that I was the best one out of the boys. The girls were way better than me. I could never be that flexible.

And we did computer, oh  I did this on the computer of course we did computer lab. So I will talk about something else like in math we did double bar graphs. So we had to do a question like what is your favourite pizza topping that was my question. The choices were bacon , cheese , meat , pepperoni and pineapple. Bacon won for boys and for girls too. Bacon had the most votes.

Mr. Kapilik telling a story.
The animals for the Seven Teachings
Wow what an amazing week at school! There is a lot of stuff I don’t know where to start oh I know this week in school we learned about the 7 teachings.  It was so awesome! These teachings help us have a good life. Mr. Kapilik told us a story about how beavers got a flat tail. It was really interesting.  Everyone in our class is making a story that will go into a book.

Guess what? We had p-j day on January 7! It was so cool because we got to wear our p-js to school. I wore my onesy and slippers. It was so awesome. Did you have p-j day when you were young? It was so comfortable to wear all day.

Wow what an awesome gym class. In gym we did gymnastics. In gymnastics we did rolls and other stuff. I signed up for gymnastics club. I love gymnastics it is so fun to do.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Yesterday was our first day back. But yesterday the buses weren’t running, and also buses weren’t running today either. Yesterday we started a new year’s art. So what you do for this art is:
  1. Count how many letters in your name and add 2014 and that is how many boxes you need for this art
  2. Make the boxes using only horizontal and vertical lines
  3. The put your name and 2014 in those boxes in block letters or bubble letters
  4. Colour the negative or positive spaces with ONLY 1 colour
  5. Erase the pencil marks
  6. You can colour with marker or pencil crayon

Today we also have PJ day! Mostly everyone wore their PJ’s. It isn’t a party though, just normal work. We also got to bring a stuffy! I wish I could wear our PJ’s every day!

We wish everybody a great year in 2014.    -By Brooke
