Grade 5 Farewell
Today we had our farewell for the grade 5s leaving our school. It was an exciting time to spend with family and friends. Thanks to everyone for coming out to share in this special day with us. It is hard to believe that the year has already flown by. We are so proud of all of you and what you have accomplished during your time at BHS. We know you will continue to do great things. Here is a video of some of the highlights from our celebration. Thanks Ms Wasney for sharing your photos!

Field Day!
Today we had field day. It is for the whole day.
In the morning the grade 5s ran the stations, and in the afternoon the grades
6s run them. There are 30 stations. I ran the mat maze with Alyssa and Brenda. Today
it only rained a bit. My favourite station was long rope skipping. We did all our stations in the afternoon. It was best day ever!!!!!

Variety Showcase and Cross Grade Activity
We had a Variety Showcase yesterday. I played my
guitar, Mikayla played the piano and Hailey did her hoops routine. I had to
practice a lot. I played the song Dirty Deeds. We had to play in front of the
whole school and the parents. I felt a little bit scared. I think I did good.
All the performances were really good.

T.W.A.S.
We are doing all kinds of poems. They are really fun. We
did limericks. Those are the most fun poems that I think we have done yet. I
also liked the list poem that one is really fun.
We started our design projects. We have to make something
that will protect you from the sun. Most people are making hats. That is the easiest
thing to do so that is what I will do but it will be different.
Most people are almost done there expert projects. I still
have to find pictures and type the information. Then I have to put it all
together. I think that it will be really good.

Working with Clay
We worked with Mrs. Kulyk on an art project
using clay. The first step was getting a chunk of clay and squishing it into a
ball. We had to put our thumb inside the ball and move it around to make a
bigger hole so it would look like a pot or bowl. There were tools to use to add
designs. You had to use some water to smooth it out and to attach pieces to the
clay. If you use too much water it will turn to mud. After we were done making the pots they are going to go to the kiln at
Robert Andrews School to be fired. When they are done they will look reddish
and be solid as cement. We can’t wait to see them. They will look so amazing! They will be special gifts for .........?

Science Gallery Field Trip
Today our class went on a field trip to the
Manitoba Museum. We had a great time learning about science and
having fun playing the amazing little science games. First we went into a room
behind the curtain, we learned about chemical and physical changes! The guy
that was helping us was named Sean. He showed us some neat experiments… One of
them involved a diaper! Also one of them involved a rocket, sort of… After that we got to explore the science
gallery! Two of the things me and Brooke liked were… I liked the Mirror maze/room.
Brooke liked the movie maker. There are two other things I liked were the
pulley chairs and the space simulator etc. It was super fun!

Falcon Cam
CBC Manitoba Falcon Cam is Live and we want you to be part of it.
Since 1989, a
pair of endangered Peregrine Falcons has been nesting on the Radisson Hotel in
downtown Winnipeg. Beginning 2006, CBC Manitoba, the Radisson Hotel and
the Peregrine Falcon Recovery Project (Manitoba) have collaborated to provide
Manitobans with the opportunity to observe each year’s family of Peregrines on
the Falcon Cam. The #CBCFalconCam
is also fully equipped with audio so your classroom can follow all of the
sights and sounds of the falcons.
Log on to here from
now until the end of July to watch our live Falcon Cam and add your comments.
Watch the baby falcons from the day they hatch to the day they fly away from
the nest box for good.
CBC Communications
The mother falcon is sitting on 4 eggs which will be hatching very soon!

French Skits
This week we did French skits. I love doing skits but I don’t
really like French because it is hard to pronounce and understand words. But I had
a really fun time doing it. Karlee was my partner for the skit. We did not
practice much but I think our pronunciation was good. I made a bunch of scripts
for Karlee and I. The props we had were:
A black serving plate, a black apron, a BLT, a bill holder, a take home
box and a purse with a duck tape wallet. Other kids used a clip board, and fake
sandwiches and real sandwiches and sandwiches made out of paper. I think
everybody did really well. I think the preparation for the food was the hardest
because I had to go to Jonseys in the morning and make one because I forgot to make
it the night before. Everybody’s French skit was so different and so cool.
How did you practice? I practiced with my mom by doing the
whole script.
