Expert Projects

Michael's Magic Bullet Demo
Hello Room 30 readers, today I’m going to be telling you about my EP project and my experiences. First I had to pick a topic. My topic was the Magic Bullet. It’s a blender. I was excited to research my topic I am doing. I went to the official Magic Bullet Site and DID not copy all the information I put it into my words. Then I used a PowerPoint like Donald Trump would use for business. I copied and paste the words I put on word document to the Power Point to make it a lot quicker to type. Then on March 20 2013 I took my secret blender to school The Magic Bullet. I really knew my stuff like who invented the magic bullet, who invented the first blender was named Steven Poplawski, and the person who invented the Magic Bullet was named Lenny Sands. Almost at the end I showed the infomercial. You can see the magic bullet infomercial here. I thought I did very well but some of my pronunciation was I little bit bad. Once I did my demonstration I think I did even better. I made a smoothie. The things I brought for the smoothie were: half of a banana, milk, raspberries and yogurt. And crunched up some wall nuts and put them in to the Magic Bullet. I put the walnuts for in the cooler for home because I’m not really of a fan of walnuts. But I drank the smoothie. My friend Hunter did a presentation on the same day I did which is today. She’s an expert on the town of Birds Hill, she did awesome.
Thanks for reading! You guys are the best!

Hello blog readers today I am going to tell you about my EP project. EP means expert project. An expert project is something that you are an expert on or something you want to an expert on.
Hunter and Dr. Curtis James Bird.
My EP project is the town of Roseneath (Birds Hill). I got my info from people I interviewed and from a book called History of East St. Paul. I got the pictures from the internet. All of the info I got I put it on paper. I chose prezi so that I could do it at home and I liked how all of the canvas moves with all of the info. I was an expert on my expert project. The most interesting thing I learned was that the owner (Dr. Curtis James Bird) didn’t live there he had lived in Winnipeg. I already know what my next topic is going to be Nelson Mandela. Stay tuned for more info.

Gymnastics Club

Sadie, Hunter, Felicia and Melina
from our class. (Missing: Jensen)
The Grades 3 to 6 practiced long and hard before school to improve our gymnastics skills. Before school we did lots of practicing on bridges, somersaults, teddy bear stands, the cartwheel the back walkover  and many other skills. There are levels one, two and three depending on what you can do. The warm up routine gets you warmed up and all the schools will be doing it at the same time.  We are going to show our creative routine. We just showed it to the whole school . On thursday night we will perform for our parents and for lots of other people. I'm kind of nervous because  there is going to be a big crowd. I was scared performing for the school I can't imagine performing for many more people. Our routine is amazing and our warm up routine is really good to. Our creative routine is going to be the best because we are the only school that is doing that routine. I think it looks really good when we do it at the same time.I really enjoyed gymnastics club. Thanks to Mrs. Rand and Mrs. Ilchena for putting it all together.           By: Sadie

Room 30 earns a Pizza Lunch!

Dear Readers,
In February we won a pizza lunch for our class! How we won it was we participated in the Fit-a-thon and whoever got the most pledges in grades kindergarten to 3 and grades 4 to 6 got a pizza lunch! What is the Fit-a-thon? The Fit-a-thon is basically just laps. It is mostly just to build up your strength in your legs and cardio. We tried really hard to get all of our pledges in because I think we wanted it the most. When we won it we were so happy and some people were even jumping in joy and everyone was so excited. Everyone was so excited for today because we have it today and it is guaranteed to be good stuff.  Way to go room 30 we won and it is all because of  us bringing in our pledges! We got fit and had fun!

2digit x 2digit multiplication

Hey Guys and Gals! Today I am writing a blog post on my two digit by two digit multiplication lesson. The question I was answering for you viewers was 56x43. I used the distributive property. If you heard from the video it says "Take the zeros away, and then multiply the numbers left, then put the zeros back on". We are solving word problems using 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication. It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.  Hope you enjoy(ed) the video!

Vibrant Birds

Hello blog readers today I will tell you about James Rizzi because we did some James Rizzi art. Ms Wasney made these funky birds with her class and we thought it would be a great idea to do it too. James Rizzi was born in New York and he was 61 years old when he died. James Rizzi made paintings of buildings with funny faces on them. He was also famous for his birds. This is how we made our James Rizzi birds. You make the curved part of the head (very top), then the beak, then the body. When you finished all of the body you can make eyes, nose holes, hair and wings. You want to make the eyes big but not too big. You outline the bird with black pastel. When you go to colour the bird in you wet the watercolour paper with water then put watercolours (vibrant colours) on the page. YOU DO NOT COLOUR THE EYES IN just the pupil. The artwork turns out very good. You can see all of our Vibrant Birds here on Artsonia. Thanks for reading stay tuned for the next blog post.

Picasso Art

On Tuesday we read a book about Pablo Picasso. He was an amazing artist. The art we were going to try was called oil pastel faces and our class couldn’t wait because the next day we were going to start the art. On Wednesday we finally got to start the art what we needed to do was get a paper and we needed to make a half a face (profile) then a half eye a nose and half lips then you would make the other side of the full eye (portrait) and a half lip and connect it to the other side of the lips then you will be able to do it in pastel. Then if you were done doing the outline in black pastel then you would take another color and do one side of the face in that color then you would take another color and put it on the other side of the face and then you could do another color on top of that color and make a cool design on the cheek. But if you did that on the other side of the face you would still have to choose a different color then you could scratch a design on the cheek. This art was so neat!

Music Festival.........G O L D!

Hello Room 30 readers, today we went to the Music Festival! The songs we sang were Over the Sea to Skye and The Old Carrion Crow. We sang Over the Sea to Skye first then the Old Carrion Crow after. In the adjudicators review she said we rushed a little bit, but she liked the song and performance overall. There were three places, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Guess what we got…… *GOLD*, when we heard on the bus we got gold we were so amazed, everyone was cheering with astonishment. When we got back to school everyone was asking us how we did and kept repeating it over and over. The whole choir was so proud of what they had accomplished. Thanks Ms Wasney for taping the performance of one of our songs.
