Grade 5 Farewell

Today we had our farewell for the grade 5s leaving our school. It was an exciting time to spend with family and friends. Thanks to everyone for coming out to share in this special day with us. It is hard to believe that the year has already flown by. We are so proud of all of you and what you have accomplished during your time at BHS. We know you will continue to do great things. BHS is 100 Years Old

Wow what an amazing 100^th anniversary we had. I can’t believe our school is 100 years old. We had a HUGE anniversary. There were two choirs. There was a boys’ choir and girls’ choir. Both choirs sang 1 song. There was a BIG party after the performances were done. 

There also were jobs some people had to do at a certain time. I got to be (greeters at the front door) it was funny because I was with Mikayla. For my job I had to hold the door for people when they were leaving. I would also say bye and then sometimes I would ask them a question like “did you like the performance?” I really like my job. 

There was also a guy that came his name was Aaron Burnett and he was a musical entertainer.  There also was a photo booth.  Ms. Wasney’s sister Leah ran it. I went in two times. There was a display in the library with facts and pictures about our school. It was amazing to see how many people came. Thank you everyone who came to our 100^th anniversary celebration!

Grade 5's Have Talent

Today in choir the students who take music lessons outside of school were able to perform for their classmates. Jensen sang a song and Renee played the piano. It takes a lot of confidence to perform in front of an audience. Thanks for sharing your talents! Here are their performances for you to enjoy.

S.P.I.N. Club News!

We received a special package today from Free the Children. Inside the box was a letter, certificate and signed picture of some children in Nicaragua. What a great way to end the week. The S.P.I.N. Club has done some awesome work this year. Thanks to everyone for your support and dedication.

Great Behaviour!

For the second month in a row the grade 5's have been recognized for following playground expectations. We have our mascot, Bella in our room for the month and we were also treated to some delicious popsicles. Great job grade 5's! Thanks for following expectations while you are outside enjoying your recesses!

Patrols of the Month

S.P.I.N. Club News

Our SPIN Club was recognized in the Herald today. This community newspaper features stories from East Kildonan, North Kildonan, Elmwood, Transcona, Birds Hill and East St. Paul. The SPIN Club at Bird's Hill School has been involved in a variety Free the Children campaigns throughout the year. It is very exciting to read about the great work these students are doing. What a wonderful feeling to know we are helping other people locally and globally. Alex from our class is featured on the front page with Abby from grade 6. Awesome work everyone! Celebrations in Room 30!

Congratulations to Faith and Felicia for receiving the Patrol of the Month Award for February! It is wonderful to have students showing leadership and responsibility as they help to make our school a safe and better place.

Keaston's new chair arrived at school. It is adjusted to fit him perfectly. There was a lot of cheering and clapping as he was able to move from his wheelchair to his very own desk. The students are delighted (and so is Keaston) that he will be part of our classroom seating plan on a regular basis.

We are all looking forward to another great week. It's our spring concert on Wednesday so we are busy preparing for a great show! We hope many of you will be able to come out to enjoy, "The Sounds of Jazz".

Welcome to 2013!

 Some of the kids might of not wanted to come back to school but I was so excited! I got to see all my friends again and even wish them all a Happy New Year! On Monday we did a New Year's Resolution page. We had to make resolution for School, Home and for something else you wanted to pick. I chose Hockey for my extra resolution! We also wrote a few paragraphs about our Christmas and our New Year! My Christmas was so amazing, it was the best Christmas I ever had! Everyone in our class shared one thing that they did over the holidays or one thing they got for Christmas! Room 30 is looking forward to a fantastic 2013. Stay tuned to what we will be doing in class!

Wow, the Christmas break is here! The grade 5's in room 30 would like to wish all of you an awesome holiday season. Have fun spending time with family and friends.

We will see everyone back on January 7, 2013!!

Class Celebration

Yesterday we had pj day. We are having are class celebration because we had a great first term. Almost the whole class wore their pjs and brought stuffed animals. Here are some of the animals: there are 3 dogs, 2 polar bears, 3 cats, 2 lizards, 1 sock monkey, and 1 duck. We are watching a movie called the tale of Despereaux it is a French name. We just finished the book. It was a very good movie, if I rated it maybe 3 and a half out of 5. I liked the part when he got in trouble at school.
