This week at school…

We had IBL. In IBL we did the respiratory system. The respiratory system is the breathing system if you want to watch our video just keep scrolling down to see it on our blog. I learned that when we breathe we are doing so much things that we don't know we are doing. We don't think about it at all it just happens.

In word work we did a word made out of these elven letters: A E E I D D K R H N T and now guess the eleven letter word okay it’s…I can't tell you. Try to guess! It was so hard to figure out the word at the time then it just came to me ba bam! Can you make any other words out of these letters? Please tell me if you can find any other words. Hint some people got more than 80 words in my class.

Our eduphotoadaymay is awesome but it's coming to an end. Luckily we have eduphotoadayjune. I hope we get eduphotoadayjuly! I signed up for night and flash in June. I like how we get to post pictures and show everyone what we are doing in our school.                     By Sadie

Expert Project

Hello blog readers!

This week, I (Alex) presented my Expert Project on Golf. My main section was on how everything came to be. I talked about the clubs, golf balls, golf tees, golf bags and caddies. I also included a list of common golf clubs. The only major change I made was that I was going to do golf rules. Then I saw the 20 Billion page article (exaggeration), I decided against it. I was told by the class, compliments, and tens. I was told I spoke loudly and clearly, and also slowly. It was suggested that I put more pictures into it, and to put in some famous players. I was very proud of my E.P., and my next E.P. is on Tibetan terriers (a type of dog).

Paper Slide Videos

Our class and Ms Wasney's class have been working with Mrs. Dent Scarcello on an IBL (inquiry based learning) project for our science unit. We are making paper slide videos to showcase what we have learned about the human body systems. Here are the first two videos on the digestive system and the respiratory system.....enjoy!

This week at school we had gym today. Gym was really exciting because it was outside and we also got to play ultimate Frisbee and it was outdoor gym. I don’t think there would be enough space in the gym to play ultimate Frisbee. Outside at first we had a partner and after tossing it to each other for a bit we had a game of ultimate Frisbee I forgot a few rules but almost like football. It’s similar to football because you have to catch the football on the other side of the field except you can’t run with the Frisbee.

On Thursday we had music. In music we learned how to play a little bit of a song called a sailor on the recorder. We didn’t learn how to sing it. I could finally play a song on the recorder because I learned all of the notes. We also got to play on the xylophones and other instruments like that but I don’t know what their called though. I played an instrument that didn’t have all of the notes that everybody else had so I only got to play a few beats.

On Wednesday we had math. In math we learned about fractions. Everybody recognised the word fraction but we couldn’t remember what fractions were even though we learned about them in like grade one or two. I felt a little embarrassed because I forgot how to do fractions. We all eventually remembered how though.

On Tuesday Robbie presented his expert project. He researched World War 2 He talked about how destructive all of the weapons they used were. And a fact I thought was really cool is how world war two was the most destructive war ever. Robbie had so much information about so many wars. We talked about a very bad man named Hitler and how japan attacked the Philippines and so much other stuff. Robbie’s expert project was awesome.

French Skits

Today in the morning we had French. We did our French skits. Our French skits were about a French sandwich café. Most of the kids took their script home to study but we were allowed to use them because they were on the menu. Some people brought in props. What we did was we had a French café on the smart board and it looked like they were eating on the outside tables of the café. Mrs.Tresoor also had two tables up by the smart board and we had a green table cloth and whoever was up would bring their stuff up and set it up except for the food. My partner was Sadie. I brought in the pan, and cup and a table cloth, money, and some play food. I really enjoyed having to be a custumer that spoke French it was cool speaking another language that when I was in grade three it would be like gibberish so thanks to Mrs.Tresoor for teaching me and our whole class French.

Expert Projects

Today I presented my EP project on soccer. The reason why I picked soccer is that I played soccer since I was little and I have a lot of experience. Also because I felt that it would be good because I know a lot of stuff about soccer. I learned a lot about the famous soccer players. Like who are they and what they did or played for. I picked prezi because it is really easy to use and also because I know how to use it. My next EP is going to be about koala bears.

Hello blog readers! I presented my EP project this morning. It was on World War 2. The reason I picked that is because I am really interested in it, and my dad really knows a lot about it. He reads World War 1 and 2 books and watches videos a lot. I presented it on PowerPoint. I don’t have the biggest idea on why I picked that. I guess I just liked it and thought it was a really good way to present projects. It was very long. My dad gave me a lot of information. I think I might research World War 1 for my next EP project.

Expert Projects






Hello blog readers! On Friday I presented my E.P (Expert Project). I presented it on Money. I presented using Prezi. I have learned a lot about money. I have especially learned about all of the current Canadian coins (Penny, Nickel, Dime, Loonie and Toonie). Some of the facts I learned are: The earliest money was feathers, stones, beads and shells. In the 10^th century the Chinese government issued heavy iron coins with little value.

Hello guys its Riley here, On Friday I presented my very first E.P. Expert Project! My presentation was on Hockey and what I talked about on my E.P. is… The rules of hockey, the equipment you should wear, and some tips of hockey like the good types of sticks you should use and other things. The creator of hockey is Tommy Gorman. I think my next E.P. will be on rollercoasters because I have liked them since I was little.

This week at school we did lots of neat things like today we got the roof top photos done. I like roof top photos because I hate pictures of just me I don’t know why but I have hated pictures since I was just a little kid.  I think that the roof top photos are good because you get to see all of the people in our whole entire school. The roof top photos get posted out in the halls of the school.

In math we had a mini quiz but it was not hard at all I would say it was really easy for me. I’m pretty sure I did really good on the mini quiz it was actually really fun I think. I like math that is challenging. I enjoy math and I always will I hope because it is learning and it is fun and simple.

In computer lab we have been working on our eps I’m almost done. I can’t wait to present it will be so fun. My project is on the German short haired pointer it is a very interesting topic. The reason that I did my project on German short haired pointer because that is the type of dog I have. I’m using prezi to present my project. The presentations that people have done have turned out really good I hope that mine is just as good.

We are watching the falcon cams in class sometimes and it is really cool. The falcon has layed her eggs and we are waiting for them to hatch. Kyla from the other class researched the falcons so she came to our class and told us about them.

Hero Writing

Hello blog readers today I’m going to talk to you about Hero Writing.

Hero writing is about who your hero is not a Super Hero! A hero is a person that inspired you to be yourself. We first talked about what a hero is and characteristics of a hero. We made a list of people that can be our heroes. A lady named Mrs. Augusta came and talked about who her hero is. She wrote a letter. She read over the letter while she was writing and she crossed out words that didn’t fit in with the letter. I’ve learned that once you make a hero letter, it must come from the heart. I picked my grandma because she has always been there for me. When I give her the letter I hope she likes it! I learned that once someone gives you something, give them something in return. What I mean is that for all the things a special person does for you, you should do something good for them.

Instagram Challenge for May is Halfway!

For the month of May we are doing the instagram challenge. It is like a calendar where we have to post a certain photo every day. Before me and my friend Hunter we did a comic strip for our picture which was lost and found. So we have a sign-up sheet for all 31 days. Once you pick a day for the month there is a word that comes with the day. So you have to plan the picture and what you are going to do for that picture and caption. Once the person posts there picture they have to comment on another class’s photo. Our latest picture was of lunch. The people who did it today were Robbie and Branden D. Sometimes we do a quick write and we talk and write about our past experiences that are related to the instagram pictures that others have posted. We are able to connect to any classroom around the world if they want to keep in touch with our classroom. I like to see the other schools ideas for every word and what they come up with. I have back to back days for day off and patterns so I better get planning! You can follow us @mrstresoorsclass.

Peregrine Falcons living at the Radisson Hotel!

The Falcon Cam is up and running again this year. We can watch the Peregrine Falcons live from their nest on the Radisson Hotel until the end of July. Hopefully we will be able to see the baby falcons hatch! Click here to see them in action.

Hello blog readers! This week we had Music Monday. A man named Chris Hadfield was doing his last live video stream from space. He was in the International Space Station which is in space for 6 months! He was the first Canadian Commander of the International Space Station. He left in December 2012. He is still there. When he was in space, he sang his song “I.S.S” (Is Somebody Singing or International Space Station). We watched the live webcast and sang the song with him. That was on Music Monday. You can watch the video at the end of this blogpost.

We had basketball this week. We have practices and we are doing a lot of scrimmaging. We are going for a basketball tournament on Monday! There are going to be 10 teams there, and we are going to vs. them all. We are going to get Little Ceasers Pizza for lunch! I cannot wait!

This week we had 2 ep presentations! Cameron presented his ep (Expert Project). It was on Hockey. He showed us a bit of what he knew rules, tips, gear and some of the best hockey players ever. We also went to Ms. Wasney’s class to see Zach’s ep. He presented Barack Obama. It was cool. Good presentations to both of you!

Since Mrs. Tresoor’s class didn’t have any behaviour problems in April, we got blue bracelets! No one got any white slips. That was a nice surprise! If a class gets no white slips in a month, they get a surprise. Last time we won, we got frozen yogurt tubes!

This week we watched a video in health. It was on Drugs, teaching us not to smoke. What happened was there was a kid who wanted someone to play with, and he found a live cigarette. He went to an amusement park called “The Pack”. He never wanted to smoke after that. He rescued 2 kids who were working there.

Expert Projects

Today I presented my expert project. My expert project was on Bald Eagles. I chose the topic Bald Eagles, because I knew a lot about them and where they live and also what they look like. I also wanted to find out more about Bald Eagles. I used Prezi to present it to the class. Some of the sources I used are books, videos, pictures, and of course Prezi. I thought that it went really well but I could have talked louder. My next Prezi will be about wolfs or owls.

I also presented today! My expert project was on Hockey and on Prezi. I chose the topic hockey because I play the sport and I know a lot about it! My next expert project is on Steven Paul Jobs, AKA: Steve Jobs. I’m doing Steve Jobs because he was a really smart inventor and I have some of his merchandise. I hope all goes well!

Expert Projects

Hi blog followers! I presented my E.P (expert project) yesterday, it was on William Shakespeare. I decided to do it on Shakespeare because I have an interest in theater and he is a famous play writer. I even learned some things myself! One thing I learned was that there were no official records regarding his education and birth. Another thing that I learned was that he was baptised at wholly trinity church in England. He also had siblings, two older sisters and three younger brothers. It was an interesting topic for me to learn about. I think the best part was when everyone said woo when I showed them my theater life paragraph I wrote on William Shakespeare.  I liked the questions that the people asked because they were good ones. My presentation was using prezi. Other presenters did it on power point but that was their choice.

Today I got to present my EP (expert projects). My EP was one direction. Why did I do that topic? I did that topic because I have 2 sisters that are CRAZZY fans of One direction. So then it makes sense that I would do it because I hear a lot! Another reason is because out of my top 3 favourite artists are one direction! The band members are Harry, Niall, Zayn, Louise, and Liam. Here is an interesting fact that I learned… Harry is the one that came up with the One Direction! One of the funniest facts was probably this… Harry thinks Niall looks like a Furby. There were a few choices to pick to present your project like Power Point and Prezi! The one I chose was Power Point. Another cool thing that was with my project was a song! The song I chose was Kiss you and it is one of the recent songs released I think! Thanks for listening!
