T.W.A.S.

This week at school we had the Terry Fox run. We ran in the field. Grades 4 to 6 had to run the WHOLE field. Grades K to 3 ran half the field. I think I ran about 5 laps. It was so hot out. Before we ran we watched a video about Terry Fox. It’s called “Try the Impossible.”

We also did our pointillism. Mine is a rainbow with a field of flowers. I finished mine. It is very colourful. It looks AWESOME! Everyone else’s looks good too. Hopefully everyone will be done soon so we can put them on the bulletin board.

We had science. We watched a Bill Nye video. It was on climate and weather. He did an experiment. I think it was how to make rain. What you need is an empty coke bottle, some ice cubes and VERY hot water. What you do is you cut the bottle in half, and then put the hot water and the ice cubes in the bottom of the bottle. Then put the top half of the bottle in the bottom half, but upside down. Then you find out what happens. -By Brooke

Smile :)

We started our day with a SMILE! Ms Wasney picked up some cookies for us at Tim Horton's this morning. All the proceeds from the sale of the cookies go to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. You still have a few days to purchase the chocolate chip smile cookies and help a great cause.  - Mrs. T :)
So yummy!

Terry Fox Run

Today we had the Terry Fox run. It was fun but it was very hot out. Everyone was sweating. Terry Fox was 18 when he found out he had cancer. They had to cut off his leg and he got an artificial leg. He ran across Canada to raise money for cancer research. Terry Fox ran a marathon every day. We ran in the field today for only 30 minutes. This is an important time to raise money for people in need and to remember Terry Fox.

T.W.A.S.

This week at school we were doing a type of art called pointillism. It is an art with all dots you are not allowed to draw any lines or colour it in it had to be with all dots. I was drawing a flower. Pointillism takes quite a long time because you have to do it with all dots and the page has to all be with all dots On Thursday we did math. What we did in math is we wanted to see how many dots we could make on a page in one minute. Are whole class made over five thousand dots. That is a lot of dots!! Mrs.Tresoor timed us we didn’t have to time are self’s. We also read the book one million dots by Andrew Clements. On Friday we did science. In science we are learning about the difference of the climate and the weather. We did a chart on the smart bored of what the climate is and what the weather is. We also did it on paper. We had to cut out the pieces and glue then on to your piece of paper. By: Keanna

Fun With Dots

This week we are talking about International Dot Day. We read a book called “The Dot.” The book was very interesting. It was about a girl who was in art class and how she thought she was not good at art/drawing. She was starting to get angry and just made a dot on her paper. When she came to school the next day the painting she made was framed above her teachers desk. We think this book is telling us you always have to try your best. Just get started and you never know what will happen. We designed our own dots. Mrs.Tresoor showed us an app called “ColAR Mix.” What you do is you take a picture of the dot and you press a button to make your dot come to life! Enjoy the video! By: Brooke and Mikayla

International Dot Day

September 15 is International Dot Day. This day is inspired by Peter H. Reynolds's book called The Dot, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. It is a book that encourages the creativity to bloom in all of us. Can't wait to read the book to the class on Monday! Thanks Mrs. Dent Scarcello for letting us know about this fun day.

T.W.A.S.

Our first full week of school is over. We are getting to know each other more everyday. Karlee is our first T.W.A.S. blogger this year. Here is her T.W.A.S.......

This week at school we did name art. We had to think of things that describe me. Then we took a white piece of paper and started to do wavy lines across the page. We filled in all the lines with what describes me and we started with I am… then we went over the wavy lines with a thick sharpie marker. Last but not least we had to color the wavy lines that were the best part!

On Tuesday we had bus patrol training it was really fun. We had to go on a real bus and go over some of the rules and we had to help the little kids off the bus when we went to school and from school. But we weren’t actually on a bus. Then we went in to Mrs. Dyck’s class and we went over some of the stuff we learned.

Our class has an instagram account. It is really exciting. We get to post pictures and have to comment on what we took a picture of I posted a picture of rules at home. Then I had to comment on another teacher’s picture. So someone took a picture of waiting for the bus and I said I have to wait for the bus in the morning too! It was an awesome week!
