T.W.A.S.

T.W.A.S……………………
Three times these week we had free gym. I, Abby, Kelsey and Vicky did gymnastics.  Free gym is so awesome. Today in free gym I did 4 run, jump, cartwheels it was the most fun free gym ever. Free gym is the most fun and the most awesome.
Today we started the Muscular system. Did you know you have over 650 muscles in our body? We had to do a paper on the ones we know. We have Tendons and Ligaments, Voluntary’s and Involuntary muscles. The Muscular system is cool.
Yesterday we watched three AAA stories. We watched Mrs. Kohut’s, Mr. Oliphant’s and Mrs. Dyck’s. Mrs. Kohut’s class did “The Mud Duck”. Mr. Oliphant’s class did “Nanabosho And The Great Sergeon”. and  Mrs. Dyck’s class did “Nanabosho And The Raven”.
Yesterday we finished the skeletal system. And did the mind map on it. It was so awesome. It was so amazing. The mind map is so awmazing.

AAA Story Telling Presentation

Today we presented our version of the story, Nanabosho and the Butterflies to Mrs. Kohut's class and Ms. Wasney's class. It was great to have a live audience! Here is our performance.

March 21 World Poetry Day

Ms. Dodd’s told us today is World Poetry Day. Today we read and wrote poetry and here’s one I wrote:
When Will the Day Come?
When will the day come when I’m smart and brilliant?
When will the day come when I believe I can do things I say I can’t?
When will the day come when the sun is beaming down
on my face with peace and quiet?
When will the day come when I can learn how to dance?
When will the day come when school will be out
and I’m dancing all around?
When will those days come?

Village Group Activities

On March 19th we had village groups. There were activities all over the school. There were 16 different activities. One of my favourite activities was the scooter hockey. And there were some stations I didn’t get to go to. I heard people talking about human bowling pins. And that sounds like a lot of fun. There were even stations in class rooms. There were stations in Mr. Oliphant’s class and Mrs. Kohut’s class. Those are the only ones I went into. Another one of my favourites is the Parachute in the library. There was a game in the gym where there was a flag on your socks and you have to crawl on your hands and knees and people have to try to take them off. If they get all of them you have to sit on a mat at the end of the mats.  In Ms. Dodd’s room we played musical chairs with hula hoops. I was out the first time. I’m not good at those kinds of games. The one I really wanted to go to was the human bowling pins. The one I’ll say was the most difficult was the yoga station. I don’t flex very well. My favourite pose in yoga was the do nothing pose. You just lie down and well do nothing. I wonder what other stations there were.  Oh well. At the last village group we were doing candy cane ornaments. I think this is the best village group we’ve had because it was like we had a 3 period gym.

Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra

Today we went to the Concert Hall to see the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra but for short W.S.O. First we went on the bus to the concert hall. The conductor who conducted the whole thing, his name is Richard Lee. The songs were Lord of the Dance, Russian Sailors Dance, Swan Lake, Pirates of the Caribbean and many more. My favorite was the Pirates of the Caribbean. It was my favorite because it was more action. The dancers are ballerinas, Russian dancers, Gymnastics dancers, and Irish Dancers. There was a lady that was climbing on two cloth ropes and doing tricks. That was really neat. On the back of the stage there was a big screen and beautiful colors. Mitchel in my class had his art work put on the slide show.  When we walked out to go to the bus there was beautiful art work that people made and the best was the huge chandelier. It was 10 feet wide I’m guessing.

T.W.A.S.

This week at school.....in gym we played capture the flag dodge ball. It was so much fun I really want to play it again. Because it was really fun.And we also played hand ball. And the best part is that they’re going to be holding a hand ball club. And I’m going to sign up for it. Because I really like hand ball. I’m guessing there’s going to be a tournament like always.

In social studies we’re going to do our presentation on Christopher Columbus. We’re supposed to do it today but Abby is leaving for the states at lunch. So we’ll have to do it when we come back from school. But I was actually looking forward to the presentation and now I have to wait to do it. That makes me sad.

This week we did art. It’s so cool we choose any different kinds of paint. There were so many kinds of green. There was turquoise, lime, really dark, really light, and so many kinds of green that I didn’t even know existed. And I did a good a good job at it. I want to do it again.
This week in math we started division. I really don’t like division. It’s just like times you have to know times to do division. So technically I’m toast. So now I can’t believe I’m saying this I need to study. And there’s another thing I hate to do study. Even if it does make thing’s easier.
In health we did a test. Well it wasn’t exactly like a test it was more like a true of false thing. And we played this game that involves both of the tables in the room. There are 2 tables in our room. And with ever table and with ever table dose the thing our health teacher tells us to do one person from the group had to answer the question. And you can’t speak you have to play it like sheraids.
In French we read a book in French. Except it was like one of those small book’s and the words were simple. And you could tell what the words say. Well we could because we’ve been learning French for a while. So to us it’s pretty easy. It’s also going to be in my portfolio. And we answered a whole bunch of question’s that were also in French.
This week we did portfolios. And so far I’m almost ready to go to show you my work. And something tells me Mrs. Tresoor will say that I need to work on many things. So I’m not really looking forward to parent teacher. I really don’t think it’s a good idea to show you my work.
In daily 5 I’m still finishing my story on the time loop. So far I’m not almost done. I’m going for 20 pages and I only have 11. So I’m really far behind schedule. And I have so many pages left to write. And now I’m thinking about the next chapter of my book. But I want it to be a surprise when you come for parent teacher.
Yesterday we had an assembly. It was for the girls’ choir. They sang the song’s they sang at the festival. And they were actually really good. And we were there for about 5 10 min. and our music teacher’s daughter played the violin to both of the song’s.
In science we started the skeletal system. And I finished all the work I did to catch up. And I did a good job on all of it. I finished the model of the system and it looks really cool. And it was really easy. So if they ever want me to do that again it will be even easier than the first time.
On March 6th it was Oreo’s 100th birthday. And we all got Oreo cookies. It was so good and there are a lot of Oreo cookies. A billion cookies are made each year. That's a lot of cookies. I twist off the top and eat the part with no icing first, then I eat the icing and then I eat the bottom. People in our class eat the cookie in different ways!

Little Buddies: Story Chains

Yesterday we made story chains with our little buddies. The story we read was How the Chipmunk got his Stripes. It was about a bear that said he could do everything. Then a little brown squirrel dared him to make the sun not rise the next day. But it did and the little brown squirrel teased the bear. That made the bear angry and he scratched the brown squirrel down his back. After the brown squirrel got away and slept for winter. When the squirrel woke up for spring, white hair grew back where he was scratched. So when we  started  our chain we did the very first part, then we did the end and three things in the middle. My little buddy Kaitlyn. J thought of what to write and I wrote it. After we had to make a picture for the story as you can see in the picture. My little buddy did the brown squirrel and I did the bear. Though my little buddy left a little bit after the picture, it was still the highlight of my day.

AAA Art with Mrs. Kulyk

On Wednesday, February 29 we had an art class with Mrs.Kulyk. It was for an Aboriginal story called Nanabosho and the Butterflies by Joe McLennan and Matrine McLennan that we have to present to people. We had people working on masks, butterflies, backgrounds, blankets and leaves. The story was about 2 babies who never did anything by themselves. They had 8 brothers and sisters who loved them very much and picked them up when they were crying, find them food when they needed food and change them when they were wet. When Nanabosho herd these babies crying he went to find them. When he found them they were laying on the ground crying. Theyre mother was sitting on a rock near by. Nanabosho asked the mother why she was letting them lay there and cry. She said because they have 8 brothers and sisters who love them very much and will do anything for them. Nanabosho asked where they were the mother said I have sent them on errands that will take them all day Nanabosho asked why. The mother said because they never do anything for themselves but cry. So I brought them here so they might do something for themselves.Nanabosho asked if he could help and the mother said as long as you dont pick them up. So Nanabosho took a blanket out of his pack and took some crunched up leaves and spread them out on the blanket, and through them up in the air and the twins stopped crying. he did it again the twins rolled on to there stomachs. He kept on doing it and finally the twins started to walk and the leaves turned into beutiful butterflies. The twins started chasing them and the butterflies flew all over the world and will always bring joy and laghfter to children all over the world. this took us 4 periods to finish all the art. I think everybody had a really fun time making things and helping out because I know I did. Because Riley Mitchell and I made leaves and had to glue gun them onto a blanket. This blanket represents the blanket that Nanabosho pulled out of his pack and threw the leaves up in the air with. I also think that the people working on masks did really well because they look really good. I enjoyd it because I got to work with my friends while I do something that I really like.
